Wordy Wednesday

Welcome to the new Wednesday format – Wordy Wednesday.  This is the day I talk a lot – well – maybe just talk.  It’s the day I’ll tell you why I love living in the North West, a green a beautiful part of the US.  I’ll show you some of my favorite photos of the area (one’s I’ve taken) so you can see how beautiful it is.  And did I mention I love living here?

We have iconic places to eat

and amazing examples of a variety of cultures

I live smack dab in the middle of the upper Willamette Valley of Oregon.  I’m just north of Salem and south of Portland.

An hour and a half to the west is the Ocean

Oregon Coast

and an hour and a half to the east is the upper dessert.

We have the full gamut of weather (although none terribly extreme).  Of course there is the rain – and lots and lots of rain-

We even get snow!   There are a lot of places in the Cascade mountains for skiers to enjoy, like Mt. Hood or Mt. Bachelor!

And then there is more rain –

Spring is wet and bright and colorful – it makes you thankful for the rain –IMG_6534

And summer is warm and sunny.

Farmer’s markets abound!

And then there are the wineries!

Fall is a mix.  Sometimes it’s sunny – sometimes it rains – but it’s cold enough we get some beautiful color when the leaves change.

It’s a wonderful place to live.  I can’t see myself anywhere else.

Did I mention how much I love living here?

About Helen Fern

I live in the upper Willamette Valley with my amazing husband and four very spoiled cats - three adopted feral cats and one shelter baby. We have lived here since the dawn of 1991 and love every inch of the region.

And we just moved here! Yay! After visiting here for over 20 years, and having our son and wife move to Portland 5 years ago, we finally made the move ourselves. We are in Oregon City, just far out enough of the city to feel like we’re away from it, but close enough to enjoy it when we want to. Mt. Hood view from our front yard! And as you said in your post, all these wonderful places and things so close. Love your blog, and look forward to reading about all the things to do in Oregon.

It looks beautiful, it’s definitely place I’d like to visit someday. Thanks for sharing at Pin-Worthy Wednesday!

I love your Oregon pics but I am partial to living in Minnesota.

I’ve never been there, but I hear its a beautiful place. Actually, I haven’t been anywhere that I couldn’t find some beauty in the landscape. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh, Oregon! I miss the PNW so much. I’m originally from WA…Hopefully I’ll be back this summer and will be heading down for some Voodoo Doughnuts, some good beers, Stumptown Coffee, and some farmers markets! Beautiful photos!
