What to Do? Take a Weekend in Rockaway Beach

Downtown area – beach side shops

We have some friends that lease a house right on the beach in Rockaway, Oregon.  We spent a stormy,    IMG_8550  fall weekend with them and had a wonderful, relaxing time.  Check it out sometime when you’re out this way!

This fabulous little rock shop offers rough stones, a fun little “park” and some gorgeous handmade jewerly!

Like clam chowder? This place has some of the best I’ve ever had – LOTS of clams!

The shops were fun to play in – some great “gifts” and some touristy stuff, but fun!

This was for sale in one of the shops – Thought it was sort of fun!

We stayed right on the beach – Here is the view from the window – 20141018_142834IMG_8587

And the other host

And then there was the long walk on the beach….

Barnacles on the rocks of the jetty

Close up of the barnacles – looked like teeth!

Down to the Jetty – IMG_8489 IMG_8476

And then back to the house…..

I love textures and this sand was so beautiful – yep – wet sand.

And then relaxing on the front porch,

Before going in for a glass of wine and a good movie – with the sound of the surf in the background.  Ah………

    I love the beach scene.

So, that’s what barnacles look like.
Years ago A wave tossed me right into a pole with barnacles.
We had to leave the beach because my leg was bleeding lots and in several places. Bummer!
I still enjoy the beach when I can go. Just smarter about where I swim.
