The Polar Express

My grandson came to visit us and he loves trains! Well what better to do with him than to take him on the Polar Express? The train runs out of Hood River, Oregon and we picked a perfect weekend to do it! There was snow on the ground and it was cold enough to be the North Pole!

The first thing we did on arrival was check in and get our tickets.  All the children get the “golden” ticket to ride the train. We had also arranged for a book of the Polar Express to be waiting, wrappedIMG_9556

for Brayden to open by the Christmas tree in the depot!

After we boarded the train, the conductor went through asking each child what letter their name started with, then punch holes n their ticket to make that letter!  Brayden was in awe!

The train was complete with the hobo and dancing chefs passing out cocoa and cookies!

Dancing Chef!

The hobo himself!

Nice, warm cocoa!

We all enjoyed our treats while Christmas carols played.  Then we saw Santa outside the window!  IMG_9675IMG_9673

As we waited for Santa to board the train, the crew held up huge picture books of the Polar Express story while the words played on loud speaker in the train!

And pretty soon the Man in Red and his elves were on the train!  He stopped to visit every child, giving them the silver bell.

Brayden was so excited, he even slept with his train and his bell!

I highly recommend this ride for your children.  It lasted about an hour and a half, but the memories will last a life time!
