We spent the weekend with my sister and brother in law in Lebanon (Oregon). They took us to a fabulous eatery and pub – The Growler Cafe
We sampled a few beers before we made our decisions. I had the Oakshire (from Eugene, Oregon) Watershed IPA- a citrusy hoppy beer. My sister and my husband opted for the Oskar Blues Ted Fidy (a Colorado brewery) – a chocolaty stout with coffee overtones. Both beers were delicious!
The food menu, although small, offered some delicious options –
We all shared the hummus plate. My sister ordered the pesto grilled cheese, served on homemade bread with hummus, cheese and tomato -with some really good onion potato chips. My husband ordered the Nortorious P.I.G. – A huge sandwich of slow cooked pork, ham and bacon….
The dining area is paneled with old, salvaged barn wood and the floor is paved with pennies – lots of pennies.
And the service was fabulous! The food came quickly – the waiter made sure we always had everything we needed – and he was friendly and personable. We left with two growlers – what’s a growler? It’s a refillable jug of beer you get to take home and enjoy! You can bring your own growler, or buy one of theirs –
If you’re ever out by Lebanon, I highly recommend you stop in! You won’t be disappointed!
