The Barred Owl – In my backyard!

I’ve been hearing an owl hoo-hooing in our backyard for months.  I listened on the internet for owl sounds and it sounded very similar to a great horned owl, but I could never find it to confirm.

Well today was the day.  My owl is a barred owl!!  Look at this beautiful creature!  I feel so honored that it chose my trees to hang out in!

This owl is pretty common.  It’s also referred to as the “hoot” owl because of it’s distinctive call.  (Click here to hear it).  It’s also called a wood owl, striped owl and a rain owl (perfect for Oregon).  I call it beautiful!

Look at those amazing, soulful eyes!! They can see deep inside your spirit!

I love living away from the city!! And I love my backyard!
