St. Patty’s Day

OK – so we aren’t really Irish – but neither is corned beef and cabbage!  But we still like to celebrate like we are!!  Here in the Willamette Valley, St. Patrick’s day is just another excuse to party!!

Ahhh….Irish Coffee – (recipe here!)

Today was the Shamrock run – dedicated athletic types running in the rain and wind – YOU GO!!

OK – so this was a few years ago, but it was just as wet!!

And all weekend there have been parties in the Pubs – But hey – St. Patty’s is actually on Tuesday!  Here are a few places you can try out being Irish for the night (some authentic, some not, all fun!)

Paddy’s opens at 11am on the big day – with bag pipers, dancers, corned beef and cabbage (which is really Irish-American), and a tented street party!!  AND – you can win a trip to IRELAND!!

Kells Irish Pub is celebrating from now until “the” day!  They have Irish dancers, Irish music – and on St. Patty’s day, add the pipes!! Visit their website for details!  (I have a friend whose group danced for them in the past -said they were pretty nice folks, but get there early – the parking is KILLER)

The All Irish Cultural Society has a great family event that starts at 4pm – It includes pipes and drums, dancers and music!

McMenamins – all of them!!  There is music, bagpipes, and Irish stout on tap (we tried some today – make Guinness look American!).  Also being offered is Irish Lamb Stew and Irish Reubens!  Since I love McMenamins, I’d suggest checking them out!

Well I really suggest you check one these places to party for the Irish!

Me?  I’m staying home with my unIrish Corned Beef and Cabbage and my really Irish, Bushmills!

Happy St Patrick’s Day and thanks for linking your fun post up at the #ChainLinkyCLIMB. I’m part-Irish, and love to make Irish bread and listen to good Irish music on the 17th. Have fun 🙂

I love corned beef and cabbage. My mother used to make this when I was kid. I’ll be trying your recipe. Thanks for sharing on Sunday’s Best.
