Nesting

On my way home from work I drive the winding hwy 99E along the Willamette River.  A few months ago I notice a bird of prey (not sure what kind of bird it is, so if you know, please tell! I think they are osprey) building a nest way on top of a telephone pole.  I’ve watched it every day.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed the adult bringing food, so I guessed the babies had hatched.  Well, last week, that was confirmed – look carefully at the photos.  You can see the little heads peeking out!

This is why I love living here.

  1. Isn’t it awesome to watch nature, to watch birds building their nests and then to see the little ones? They do have a way of making the world a better place.

  2. I would venture to guess that the bird is some kind of hawk, with that beak, yes I think so. The babies are so cute. We have a few hawks that seem to have taken up residence in our community and I see them flying. As always great photography!
