It’s Pumpkin Season!

It’s that time of year when pumpkins are everywhere!  Porches are lined with the golden gourds – some of them spooky, some of them au natural!  Come join us at Pleasures of the NW for some Great Pumpkin ideas!

At our house we don’t carve the pumpkins.  We like to be able to eat them.  But what is a pumpkin without a face?  Take a photograph and cut out the features.  Then use a little hot glue to put them onto the pumpkin – Voila!  Pumpkin portraits!

And there are so many ways to eat them!  Here are a few recipes to check out!  Pumpkin, Pumpkin, Who’s got the Pumpkin?

Now that you have all those pumpkin ideas, here are a few places in the Salem/Portland (Oregon) areas that have a day’s worth of fun at the pumpkin patch!  (click on the names of the farms for more info, including pricing information)

The Wooden Shoe Tulip farm in Woodburn hosts a Pumpkin Fest!  A lot of fun activities for the kids like cow rides and hay mazes!

Bauman Farms in Gervais has hay rides, corn tunnels, and lots more!!   Every weekend!

Moving up a little north, Lees Farms in Tualatin runs every day!!  Hay rides, corn maze, animals – something for everyone!

Baggenstos Farms in Sherwood offers free hay rides to the pumpkin patch and a free animal area.

Fir Point Farms in Aurora is open Tuesday through Sunday.  You can ride the cow train, go through the Charlotte’s Web corn maze, have some fresh pressed cider and cider donuts!  Perfect fall day!

So what are you waiting for?  Go on out and get your pumpkins!

  3. OhMyGoodness – those photo pumpkins are hilarious! I definitely have to remember that for the future – that’s a great idea for decorating the pumpkin before it gets close enough to Halloween to carve it! Thanks for sharing it at #FridayFrivolity this week!

  4. Hehe, these are awesome! I might give something like this a go this year, so my toddler can get involved too. 😀
