My friend and I spent an amazing weekend together hanging out in Lincoln City. We stayed two nights and shopped, walked on the beach, ate, drank wine, had pedicures…..
It all started with breakfast at the Otis Cafe in Otis. Pay attention though. You can miss Otis. It’s just a post office, smoked fish store and the cafe – and an amazing cafe it is! I had the traditional breakfast – bacon and eggs, amazing homemade hashbrowns, and toast from their own recipe. I had sourdough, my friend had molasses – both delicious!
When we got into Lincoln City it was too early to check into our room, so we shopped a little at the outlet stores, browsed the new Goodwill, and headed over to Siletz Bay on the south end of town, also known at the Historic Taft District
After playing here for a bit we headed over to Safeway to get goodies for the evening. We still had some time before check-in, so we stopped at McMenamins Lighthouse brewpub, had some garlic fries and a drink. My friend had a beer and I had my favorite whiskey, Monkey Puzzle – oh – and an oyster shooter!!
We bought our cheese and fruit and wine and headed over to the room and checked in –
We stayed in the Crow’s Nest at the Ester Lee Motel – a room at the top of the stairs overlooking the beach. We had a kitchen, but never used the stove. We ate cheese and wine!
After some snacks we took a walk down on the beach – there is nothing more spirit lifting, energizing and still relaxing than the beach.
The sunset from the room Friday night was beautiful!
Saturday morning – we ate the leftover hashbrowns from the Otis Cafe for breakfast, watched the waves, and then headed to the B Nails for our deluxe pedicure – and was it deluxe! I think we were there for over an hour getting all the yuck off our feet and the most amazing massage of our calves and feet – including acupressure and hot towels! Then our toes were painted with some pretty colors –
And then, a tour of the town. First we visited the Connie Hansen garden. I’m thinking – if this place is this pretty in Winter, I have to see it in the Spring!
And then, back in the Taft district – and Tiki’s at 51st!
My friend ordered a bloody mary – very good too! I had one of their signature drinks – the SUPER mojito – a fresh made drink that had 151 floating on the top – a real sneaker wave!!
This place took first in the 2014 Chowder cook off – but we couldn’t decide between a bowl of soup or the fish tacos – so we ordered one of each and split it!
Then moving on – past a little restaurant that had this great fountain in front –
Then we moved north a bit to the historic Oceanlake District –
We wandered around the shops in the area for a couple of hours and then went back to our room, put on the PJs and opened bottle of wine.
There was a storm coming in that made the sky an unusual shade of pink that reflected on the water.
We sat and ate our blueberries and cheese and crackers, sipping wine and watching until the sky turned black and the rain started in. Amazingly beautiful and peaceful.
Sunday morning came way too fast. Our fabulous weekend was coming to an end. While we sat at our window seats eating fruit and bread for breakfast, we noticed what looked like a flock of sea ducks in a frenzy out on the water. On closer inspection we discovered it was a flock of sea lions!! They were feeding on a school of fish – we could see them every now and then coming up out of the water with a fish in it’s mouth!
After they swam away, we packed all the craft stuff we never used – all the new stuff we bought – and headed on out towards home. But by now it was lunch time. So where do we stop? You guessed it! The Otis Cafe!
