Decorating an Evergreen Wreath

20141215_163711I was given a pre-made evergreen wreath.  I love the smell of fresh pine so it hangs inside my door.  I wanted it decorated, but not overly decorated.  So here is what I did –

It was already assembled and had pine cones on it, but if you want to make it yourself, start with the green metal form and wire the branches on in a circular pattern –

Using wire or hot glue, place the pine cones and some cypress branches onto the form (all of which grow right in my yard!)

Next I put a strand of battery operated, little snowman, LED lights around the branches.  I love snow and I love snowmen!  20141215_162311

I purchased some frosted red berries and some glittery ones too!  A little glitz to a semi-natural wreath – 20141215_162456

I cut each cluster off and gently pushed them into the wreath, one at a time, around the pine cones.  You can use hot glue if you want, but I wanted to be able to remove them and use them again next year.   xyz xzz

Once everything was where I wanted it, I placed a gold bow on the top (click here to go to Save on Crafts for a tutorial on making bows), carefully placed the ends and turned on the lights!

Merry Christmas!

  3. It looks so gorgeous and must smell divine. Wreaths are not a big thing in South Africa but I really wish they were, there are so many possibilities.
