Bear Creek Campground

My husband read about a new campground opening up out near Salem.  We decided we’d go check it out.   Located 31 miles off Santiam Hwy, Bear Creek Park and Campground sits along the edge of the Little North Fork of the Santiam River.  It’s a small campground and it is first come, first serve.  The great thing is, it only opened on May 1 so it’s not really well known yet.  As you drive to the campground you pass two larger parks.  These seem to be where everyone goes.  Both of them were full when we went and there was absolutely no one at Bear Creek!

This was my favorite site – nestled back in the trees. When you sat at the table you could hear the moving river and the birds – it was so peaceful!

Looking out across the banks….

One of the walking paths between campsites. Some were drive in, some were hike in.

Another walking trail. I loved the way the trees created a covered walk way – sort of a tunnel of leaves.

Ready to go camping – go check out the Bear Creek site.  I think you’ll like it!

  1. Hello Helen! Bear Creek looks like an awesome getaway! I bet I can do a lot of the things I love, like: writing, hiking, photography, reading, cycling, and kayaking! Thanks for sharing. I’m going to pin it!
